We collect nothing.
That is the policy.
RecallRadar has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Everything you put into the app stays on your iPhone. The rest of this page just spells that out properly.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter lives only in the app's local storage on your iPhone:
- Your watchlist of brands, products, and medications
- Barcodes you have scanned and the names you gave them
- Vehicles in your Garage (year, make, model, VIN)
- A cache of recall data so the app works offline
None of this is transmitted to us or anyone else. Delete the app and it is all gone. There is no copy anywhere.
What we do not do
- No personal data collected, stored, or sold
- No accounts, sign ins, or email lists
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No advertising or third party SDKs
- No servers operated by us, so there is nothing to breach
The only network requests the app makes
RecallRadar fetches public recall data directly from official United States government services: openFDA (api.fda.gov), USDA FSIS (fsis.usda.gov), CPSC SaferProducts (saferproducts.gov), and NHTSA (api.nhtsa.gov, vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov).
These requests work like visiting those agencies' public websites and contain no personal information about you. The one exception you control: when you add a vehicle, the year, make, model, or VIN you entered is sent to NHTSA's public service to retrieve matching recalls, exactly as if you had typed it into the NHTSA website yourself. Product photos on CPSC recalls load directly from cpsc.gov.
Barcode scanning
The camera is used only when you open the barcode scanner, and only to read barcodes. Scanned codes are checked against recall data on your device and never leave it. No images are saved or transmitted.
Alerts are generated locally
Recall alerts are local notifications created by the app on your iPhone after it checks the government feeds. There is no push notification server and no remote system that knows what you watch.
Children's privacy
RecallRadar does not collect data from anyone, including children, and contains no ads or external links beyond official government recall notices.
If this policy ever changes
Any update will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Given the app's design, meaningful changes are unlikely: there is no infrastructure for collecting data even if we wanted to.
